About KoreaUnlock

Korea has changed.

Over the past few years, BTS, K-dramas, and K-pop have introduced millions of people around the world to Korean culture — and more visitors than ever are making the trip to experience it firsthand.

But here’s the thing: a lot of the information out there isn’t quite right.

I’ve watched YouTube videos and read foreign travel blogs about Korea and noticed that many of them miss the mark — recommending tourist traps, getting prices wrong, or simply not knowing what locals actually do. I’ve also seen news stories about travelers getting overcharged or ending up at restaurants that don’t represent Korean food at its best. It’s frustrating to watch, because Korea has so much more to offer.

That’s why I started KoreaUnlock.

My name is Kim Do Jin. I’m a Seoul local, a full-time office worker, and someone who takes food and drinks very seriously. I started this blog because I wanted to share what I actually know — not what looks good in a stock photo, but the restaurants I’d genuinely recommend to a friend, the neighborhoods worth exploring beyond the tourist trail, and the practical information that makes navigating Korea feel easy instead of overwhelming.

What you’ll find here:

→ Real restaurant recommendations from someone who eats out constantly
→ Day trips and places to visit in Seoul and beyond
→ Honest transport and travel guides written from a local perspective
→ Practical tips that most travel blogs don’t cover

I’m not a full-time blogger — I work a regular job and write when I can. My goal is to publish around two posts a week, consistently, and make every one of them worth your time.

If that sounds useful, bookmark this site and check back often. I won’t let you down.
